As a co-founder, he joins Nium’s CEO, Prajit Nanu, and Chief Business Officer, Michael Bermingham, as part of the company’s co-founding team.

Singapore-headquartered payments firm Nium has elevated its chief operating officer, Pratik Gandhi, to co-founder, the company said in a statement on Thursday.

Gandhi has over 25 years of leadership experience, having worked for global companies such as Arthur Andersen, Xerox, PepsiCo and Telstra before specializing in banking for the last 15 years, including at Temasek subsidiary Fullerton India Credit, Standard Chartered Bank Singapore, and Citibank.

He joined Nium in May 2016 as the company began building its global business operations. In his new role, Gandhi will continue to lead the global finance, operations, and customer service teams. He remains responsible for driving focus on Nium’s financial activities and helping the company deliver exceptional experiences through its customer service centers and representatives.

Strong Growth

The company processes $8 billion in payments annually and has issued more than 30 million virtual cards to date, and recorded 280 percent revenue growth year-on-year.

Earlier this year, Nium secured unicorn status when it raised over $200 million in funding, valuing the firm at over $1 billion. It later announced that it would integrate popular crypto capabilities onto its platform.

In October, co-founder Nanu told «The Straits Times» (behind paywall) that he was relocating from Singapore to the United States as he was looking to get Nium listed there in the next few years.
