Singapore-headquartered payments firm Nium has announced the appointment of a general manager for Asia Pacific.

Anupam Pahuja joins Nium as executive vice president and general manager of APAC, Middle East and Africa, according to a statement. Based in Singapore, Pahuja reports to Nium founder and CEO Prajit Nanu.

Pahuja has over two decades of experience, most recently as CEO of ZaloPay, Vietnam's second-largest e-wallet. Previously, he also spent ten years at PayPal where he held various roles managing the firm's regional businesses and several technology centers.

Revenue Driver

According to Nanu, the APAC region accounts for 40 percent of Nium’s revenue and is expected to be a significant driver of future revenue, «reaching potentially hundreds of millions».

«Southeast Asia is where it all began for us, and the region remains absolutely critical to our global success,» Nanu said.

Founded in 2014, Nium is co-headquartered in San Francisco and Singapore with regional offices in London, Amsterdam, Hong Kong, Mumbai, Bengaluru, and Chennai. Its payout network currently supports 100 currencies and spans more than 190 countries, 100 of which are in real-time.
