Hillhouse
The former Credit Suisse CEO for greater China and co-head of investment banking in Asia, Mervyn Chow, is joining low-key private equity firm Hillhouse Capital Management in March, «the bank said» reported. Hillhouse is known for its investment in Chinese tech firms such as Tencent and Baidu.
Citi
Sujoy Ghosh will take up the position of regional head of Insurance Asia Pacific, Europe Middle East and Africa at U.S. bank Citi next week. He will report to Gonzalo Luchetti, head of Asia-Pacific and EMEA retail banking at Citi. Previously, Ghosh was regional head of bancassurance for Allianz in Asia.
KPMG
KPMG Australia appointed former AXA executive Tim Thomas to lead its specialist insurance and wealth management division, the consulting firm said in a statement. He was most recently with Prudential Financial in Singapore.
Eastspring
The Asian investment management arm of the U.K.’s Prudential said it has hired Colin Graham to run a multi-solutions team. Graham, who will report to Eastspring investment boss Virginie Maisonneuve, joins from BNP Paribas' investment arm, where he held a similar role.
Cigna
Yuman Chan, who joined Cigna in 2015 as head of strategy and business development for Cigna International Markets, took on the new position in December. He will report to Patrick Graham, Cinga's Asia head, the firm said in a press release.
Julius Baer
The bank has poached Calum Brewster from Barclays wealth to head its regional offices in England. Based in Edinburgh, Brewster will report to David Durlacher, who runs the Swiss bank's U.K. arm. The Scottish banker previously worked for Lloyds and Scottish Widows.
BNY Mellon
New York-based BNY Mellon said it hired Phoebe Ao Ieong to sell its funds to private banks and other institutions in greater China. Ieong replaces Chris Tse, who was successfully wooed to Nasdaq last fall after just ten months in the job. Tse now runs the U.S. stock exchange's indexing business in Asia.
