MSIG Asia Announces Two Senior Appointments

Japanese insurer MSIG Asia’s CEO has taken on an expanded role within the group, while a new chairman has also been named.

MSIG Asia has appointed current CEO and MSI Japan executive officer Clemens Philippi as executive officer of MS&AD Insurance Group Holdings (MS&AD) and chief strategy officer for the group’s international business, according to a statement.

He will jointly lead the international strategy with Keisuke Ema, currently general manager of MSI Japan’s international business department, while reporting to Hironori Morimoto, MS&AD’s group chief global officer.

In addition, Norihiro Tanaka has been named as chairman of MSIG Asia, succeeding Tetsuya Adachi who will conclude his tenure with the group. 

Norihiro, who will also become an executive officer of MS&AD, has 30 years of experience, currently as executive officer and head of planning at MSIG Asia. He was previously general manager at MS Amlin Underwriting and head of liability and cyber at MSI Japan.

MSIG is a member of the MS&AD and a wholly owned subsidiary of Mitsui Sumitomo Insurance Co. Ltd. Within Asia Pacific, its regional footprint covers Australia, New Zealand, Hong Kong, China, Korea, India and Taiwan. Its network also includes MS First Capital, headquartered in Singapore.
