Standard Chartered Appoints Lead for Digital Assets in Asia

UK-based Standard Chartered has named a regional head of digital assets amid rapid adoption of crypto, tokenized assets and stablecoins.

Standard Chartered has appointed Karby Leggett as head of digital assets for Greater China North Asia, South Asia and ASEAN within the Digital Assets Center of Excellence, according to a statement. This comes in addition to his current role as global head of the official institutions group as part of the bank’s global research team.

According to Standard Chartered, the expanded remit has been announced as digital assets and official sector engagement increasingly converge across the bank's markets, with clients exploring how to use such technologies to transform their business models and financial ecosystems.

«Karby’s extensive experience working with governments, multilaterals and other official sector stakeholders positions him to accelerate our Digital Assets strategy, deepen our leadership, and support delivery of innovative solutions for our clients across Asia,» said Eric Robertsen, global head of research and chief strategist and Rene Michau, global head of digital assets, in a joint statement.
