UBS Picks Ex-Central Banker and Apple Executive for Board

Swiss banking giant UBS has nominated the former Mexican central bank governor and current senior Apple executive to its board of directors.

UBS has nominated Agustín Carstens and Luca Maestri for election to the board at the next annual general meeting on April 15, according to an announcement. William C. Dudley and Jeanette Wong have decided not to stand for re-election.

Carstens was the general manager of the Bank of International Settlements (BIS) from 2017 to June 2025 and governor of the Bank of Mexico from 2010 to 2017. Earlier in his career, he served as Mexico's finance minister and the International Monetary Fund’s deputy managing director.

Maestri is currently vice president of Apple Inc’s Corporate Services and was previously the tech company’s chief financial officer (CFO) for over a decade. Prior to that, he held various finance leadership roles at Xerox Corporation, Nokia Siemens Networks and General Motors.

«I am delighted to share the nomination of Agustín Carstens and Luca Maestri for election to the Board. The addition of these two highly experienced leaders will further strengthen the Board’s expertise, bringing outstanding regulatory knowledge and extensive CFO skills,» said UBS chairman Colm Kelleher.
