UBS Appoints Singapore and Southeast Asia Chair
Swiss banking giant UBS has named a corporate veteran as chairman for Singapore and Southeast Asia to provide strategic oversight of the business and cultivate next generation leaders, finews.asia has learned.
UBS has appointed Kwa Chong Seng as chairman for Singapore and Southeast Asia, according to an internal memo seen by finews.asia, effective December 1. Based in Singapore, he reports to APAC president and global wealth management (GWM) co-president Iqbal Khan.
In the role, he will provide strategic oversight, strengthen partnerships and relationships in Singapore, support the bank’s growth and innovation across the region and nurture the next generation of leaders while working closely with APAC chairman Edmund Koh as well as Singapore country head and APAC GWM co-head Jin Yee Young.
Corporate Veteran
Kwa has decades of leadership experience in the public and private sectors, previously chairing the boards of various companies in the city-state, including Singapore Exchange, ST Engineering, Neptune Orient Lines, Olam International, Fullerton Fund Management and Media Corporation of Singapore. He was also a board member at DBS and Seatown Holdings and deputy chair of Temasek Holdings and the Public Service Commission Singapore.
Currently, he is chairman of UltraGreen.ai, a surgical imaging tech provider.
