Barings Announces Succession of Top Leader in Asia
Charlotte-headquartered Barings has announced a leadership transition that includes the appointment of a new head of Asia.
Barings has appointed Alastair Wright as head of Asia Pacific, according to a statement, effective January 2026. In the role, he will oversee strategic direction and operations across the region. He succeeds Duncan Robertson, who will retire after 17 years of service with the firm.
Wright has extensive experience, most recently as Barings’ head of APAC real estate.
Expanded Role
In addition, Eric Jan will assume the expanded role of head of Greater China and Southeast Asia, reporting directly to Wright. He will be responsible for overseeing the business in China, Singapore, Hong Kong and Taiwan, as well as governance responsibilities for Barings India.
Barings is a subsidiary of insurer MassMutual and as of September 30, it had more than $470 billion in assets under management.
