Prudential Appoints Senior Duo in Hong Kong
The Hong Kong unit of insurer Prudential has announced the appointment of two senior executives.
Prudential Hong Kong Limited has appointed Abhishek Kumar as chief risk officer, according to a statement, reporting to Hong Kong CEO Lawrence Lam and Avnish Kalra, chief risk & compliance officer at Prudential plc. In the role, Kumar will oversee and develop Prudential’s risk and compliance infrastructure to foster a risk-conscious culture that supports business growth alongside effective gatekeeping.
Kumar has over 20 years of international experience in insurance, risk management and financial services advisory across Asia and Europe. He joins the insurer from KPMG where he was head of insurance practice in Hong Kong and head of APAC actuarial practice.
General Counsel
In addition, the insurer has also named Grace Lee as general counsel, also reporting to Lam. Lee is responsible for all legal matters and the company secretary function of Prudential, providing strategic legal advice to help the firm grow business in compliance to the law.
She has more than 25 years of professional legal experience, including over 20 years with Citi where she was she most recently served as general counsel for Greater China, Japan, South Korea, Australia and New Zealand. She began her career as a commercial and financial lawyer for firms in Canada.
Kumar and Lee will also both become a member of the Hong Kong executive committee.
