Prudential's Asia-focused asset management arm, Eastspring Investments, has announced the appointment of a new chief executive officer.

Eastspring Investments appoints Bill Maldonado as CEO, according to a statement, effective September 1. Based in Singapore, he will report to Prudential CEO Anil Wadhwani and join the group’s executive committee.

Maldonado has 30 years of asset management experience and first joined Eastspring in September 2021. He has been serving as interim CEO since April and prior to that, he was chief investment officer (CIO) since May 2022. Previously, he was the APAC CIO and global CIO, equities at HSBC Global Asset Management. A new CIO for Eastspring will be appointed in due course.

Eastspring is Prudential’s Asia-focused investment management arm and as of 31 December 2022, it has over $221 billion in asset under management.
