Standard Chartered has announced a raft of new senior appointments within its consumer, private and business banking unit.

Standard Chartered has appointed Xie Wen as its global head of business banking, according to a statement, effective April 1 this year.

Based in China, she will report to CPBB chief executive Judy Hsu.

Xie has been with Standard Chartered for 25 years years and is currently its co-head of client coverage for commerce, corporate and institutional banking in China. Previously, she was country risk officer for Singapore and China before moving on to head commercial banking in China in 2015.

Digital Head

Effective March 28, Mohamed Keraine will be named the bank's Singapore-based global digital head for CPBB, also reporting to Hsu.

Keraine joins from ING where he began his career in 2006 before taking on various roles including head of business development for retail markets in Europe, Australia and Asia from 2011 to 2017. In 2018, he was appointed head of retail development Asia where he led tech efforts including the launch of ING’s first digital bank in the Philippines as well as other strategic initiatives in Southeast Asia and China.

«As we increasingly shift how we service our clients to digital channels and scale Business Banking by acquiring SME clients digitally through partnerships, the deep expertise and extensive experiences of [Keraine] and [Xie] will be invaluable to Standard Chartered,» Hsu said.

CPBB, Singapore

Standard Chartered also appoints Jessie Li as head of consumer, private and business banking (CPBB), Singapore, effective April 1 this year.

Based in Singapore, Li reports to Asia head of CPBB Samir Subberwal as well as Patrick Lee, cluster chief executive, Singapore & ASEAN markets.

She will also join the bank’s Singapore country management team.

Li has 30 years of retail banking and wealth management experience and rejoined Standard Chartered in 2019 as head of CPBB, China and deputy chief executive of Standard Chartered Bank China. Previously, she also held senior positions at  HSBC, AIG, AIA and Hang Seng.

CPBB, China

Succeeding Li as the head of CPBB, China is Richard Li who joins from HSBC where he was last its executive vice president and China head of wealth and personal banking. 

Li has 30 years of banking experience, particularly in the Chinese market where he focuses on retail banking and wealth management. 

According to Subberwal, both Singapore and China are key markets for the bank with growing needs for smart digital channels and with innovative products in the former market and wealth management opportunities in the latter.
