The Vaduz-based private bank names the head of the banking division at Liechtenstein’s Financial Market Authority as its new chief risk officer.

Patrick Bont joins VP Bank in the new role to oversee group-wide legal services, compliance and risk, according to a statement.

In addition to his regulatory function, Bont was also a member of the executive board at Liechtenstein's Financial Market Authority (FMA) which he joined in 2009. From 2001 to 2009, Bont was with UBS in various positions in Zurich and Hong Kong including last as its head of business management, legal and compliance in the bank’s corporate center.

«[Bont] is a particularly experienced management personality with outstanding knowledge in the areas of risk management, compliance and corporate governance,» VP Bank chief executive Paul Arni, who joined one year ago.

«He is very familiar with the Liechtenstein financial centre, and his extensive experience will be of great value in the further development of VP Bank as well as in the implementation of our 2025 growth strategy». 

Tech Talent

While acting as the FMA banking division head and an executive board member, Bont supervised banks, investment firms, e-money and payment institutions in Liechtenstein. 

The bank furthers fintech talent and experience within its roster following the addition of Hamburg-based Deposit Solutions CEO Thomas on Hohenhau to its executive board and as the head of a new client solutions unit.
