J.P. Morgan reshuffles its top management for its south and southeast Asia business. 

J.P. Morgan named Leo Puri as chairman of south and southeast Asia, according to a «Reuters» report citing a statement from the bank, following the announcement of Kalpana Morparia’s retirement.

Puri will take on the new role, effective first quarter of 2021, while Morparia will remain with the bank to support transition «as [J.P. Morgan and its] clients adapt to the new economic and work environment». 

Other Shuffles

In addition to a switch at the chairman level, the bank also named 26-year J.P. Morgan investment banking veteran Murli Maiya as is its chief executive for south and southeast Asia. Maiya, who is currently still the APAC co-head of investment banking, will report to regional chief executive Filippo Gori.

In addition, Madhav Kalyan will become J.P. Morgan’s senior country officer for India in the first quarter of 2021, overseeing the Sri Lanka and Bangladesh offices while retaining his role as CEO of India.
