«The Little Prince» Rises Again at IWC

The brand unveils two new high-complication timepieces inspired by the literary classic «The Little Prince» – including its first blue ceramic perpetual calendar tourbillon.

Swiss luxury watchmaker IWC Schaffhausen is expanding its tribute to Antoine de Saint-Exupéry’s beloved novella with two new limited editions: the Big Pilot’s Watch Perpetual Calendar Tourbillon Le Petit Prince and the Big Pilot’s Watch 43 Tourbillon Le Petit Prince.

The 46.5-millimeter Perpetual Calendar Tourbillon marks a first for IWC – the use of blue ceramic in a timepiece honoring «The Little Prince».

Limited to 100 Pieces

Paired with an 18-carat 5N gold crown and case back ring, the watch houses the in-house calibre 51950, featuring both a perpetual calendar and a flying minute tourbillon at 12 o’clock. Limited to just 100 pieces, the watch also displays the Little Prince standing on his asteroid, replacing the traditional moon phase indicator.

The second edition, the Big Pilot’s Watch 43 Tourbillon, comes in a 43-millimeter platinum case and showcases the flying minute tourbillon at 6 o’clock. Powered by the calibre 82905 with an 80-hour power reserve, the watch is fitted with IWC’s Pellaton winding system and boasts components treated with the brand’s friction-reducing Diamond Shell technology. The rotor, visible through the sapphire case back, once again features the iconic figure of the Little Prince.

Long-Standing Partnership

Both models are a continuation of IWC’s partnership with the Antoine de Saint-Exupéry Youth Foundation, supporting global initiatives in education and literacy. The foundation, created in 2009, carries on the legacy of the French aviator and author by empowering young people through cultural and philanthropic efforts.

IWC Schaffhausen has been engaged with Saint Exupery's heirs and the foundation for almost 20 years.
