QBE Asia Names Interim Wholesale Markets CEO
QBE Asia has appointed a new interim head of its Wholesale Markets Asia business following the departure of Ronak Shah. The insurer is turning to an experienced executive from within its own ranks.
QBE Asia has appointed Tay Siang Leng as Interim CEO of Wholesale Markets Asia, the insurer announced Tuesday.
Tay, who currently serves as Chief Financial Officer (CFO) of QBE Asia, replaces Ronak Shah, who is on garden leave until the end of September. Shah is leaving the insurer after nine years and will become Regional CEO of MSIG Asia on October 1, 2026, as finews.asia has reported.
Transition From Finance Role
Tay joined QBE in 2019 and, according to the insurer, played an instrumental role in establishing its Wholesale cluster.
He has already assumed day-to-day responsibility for the Wholesale Markets Asia division alongside the existing management team. During his tenure as Interim CEO, Tay will transition out of his finance role.
The arrangement is intended to ensure continuity for QBE Asia’s clients and business partners.
In his new role, Tay will report to Rob Kosova, CEO of QBE Asia.
Transformation Strategy Continues
The leadership change comes as QBE Asia continues to implement its business transformation strategy across the region.
The insurer is focusing in particular on digitalization and the integration of artificial intelligence, as well as the expansion of its wholesale markets and protection and indemnity (P&I) businesses.
QBE Asia is part of the International Division of Sydney-based QBE Insurance Group, which is listed on the Australian Securities Exchange.
