Manulife IM Names Hong Kong CEO

The investment management arm of Manulife has appointed a chief executive officer for its Hong Kong unit.

Manulife Investment Management (Hong Kong) has appointed Calvin Chiu as CEO, according to a statement, who will continue to serve as head of retirement, Asia. In the new role, he will oversee the Hong Kong business and lead initiatives to deepen client engagement, expand distribution partnerships and enhance the firm’s retirement and wealth offerings.

Chiu has over 20 years of experience in financial services. He joined Manulife in 2010, previously leading the executive compensation and global pension and benefits programs for internal employees while at the insurer’s Toronto headquarters.

«Hong Kong continues to be a key market in driving the growth of our global wealth and asset management business, with our well-established setup serving a diverse and increasingly affluent population in the city with sophisticated investment needs,» said Fabio Fontainha, head of wealth and asset management, Asia, Manulife.

«As Hong Kong and the entire Asia region face demographic shifts and rising demand for retirement and income-oriented solutions, Calvin’s extensive leadership experience in managing the Asia retirement portfolio allows him to nicely bring these capabilities together.»
