Credit Suisse's Former Qatar Branch Chief Joins UBP

The former CEO of the now-defunct Credit Suisse’s Qatar branch has joined Union Bancaire Privée’s Dubai office.

UBP has appointed Arfat Qayyum as the senior executive officer of its Dubai office, according to a statement, subject to regulatory approval and succeeding Mohamed Shoukry.

Reporting to co-heads of Middle East & Africa region Walid Shash and Mohamed Abdellatif, he will be responsible for driving growth with a focus on expanding the bank’s local investment capabilities and enhancing its range of Sharia-compliant solutions.

Qayyum has over 20 years of experience across the Middle East and North America, most recently as CEO of Credit Suisse’s Qatar branch. Prior to that, he was head of private banking and wealth management at Al Khalij Commercial Bank.
