US asset manager Barings has announced the appointment of a new head of Korea.

Barings appoints John Park as head of Korea and the sole representative of Baring Asset Management Korea, according to a statement, effective 1 January 2024.

Park first joined Barings Korea in 2000 and is currently its co-representative director. Fellow co-representative director Ike Bae will retire from Barings Korea in December 2023 after working at the firm for 12 years.  

Co-Heads of Sales

In addition, Hong Kim and Sam Kim will also take on expanded responsibilities as co-heads of sales for Barings Korea. Most recently, the two managed Barings' institutional business for Korea. 

In September 2023, Barings’ Korea business saw assets under management (AUM) surpass 15 trillion won (US$11.4 billion). Globally, the Charlotte-based firm had more than $347 billion in AUM, as of end-September.
