London-headquartered Standard Chartered has announced the appointment of two senior private bankers in Singapore, including a former UBS executive.

Standard Chartered appoints Vinay Gandhi as global head of South Asian community and regional head of Africa, Middle East and Europe, private banking, according to a statement. 

Gandhi is a 30-year financial veteran who joined Standard Chartered’s private banking arm in October 2021. Prior to that, he worked at Bank J. Safra Sarasin as its Singapore CEO.

Southeast Asia Head

In his last role, Gandhi was also responsible for overseeing ASEAN markets. This responsibility has been passed on to Foo Tian Ong, who has been appointed as regional head, Southeast Asia and Singapore location head, private banking. He will be based in Singapore when he starts his role in December.

Foo has two decades of private banking experience and he will be joining from UBS, where he was most recently business sector head of Thailand and the Philippines, in addition to responsibilities for the non-resident Indian and Vietnam segments. Previously, he also had experience in corporate banking, institutional equities sales and research with a focus on the Thai market.
