Law firm Stephenson Harwood hired two new partners to join their global private capital and funds sector group.

Jay Tai has joined Stephenson Harwood as a new partner who will be based in Singapore. He is a private equity and M&A lawyer with a focus on transactions across Asia Pacific and the Middle East.

In recent years, Tai has focused on advising the secondary transactions in the Asian private equity space for a number of blue-chip clients. He is the former partner at Proskauer Rose in Asia, according to Stephenson Harwood’s announcement.

Hong Kong Partner

Along with Tai, the firm has hired Ren Yong as a partner based in Hong Kong. Yong is an investment funds lawyer who focuses on the representation of fund sponsors, investors and managers in the formation of investment funds in Asia.

Both of them will be joined by private equity and investment funds of counsels, Carol Fan and Lijuan Hou. The two counsels join Stephenson Harwood in Hong Kong and Shanghai.
