Barclays has relocated a 30-year veteran from London to Singapore to lead its corporate banking unit for Asia Pacific and the Middle East.

Pushkaraj Gumaste has been named head of corporate banking, Asia Pacific and Middle East for Barclays, according to a statement.

Based in Singapore, he reports jointly to head of international corporate banking Phil Bowkley and APAC head of Barclays Jaideep Khanna.

Gumaste relocates from London where he was most recently Barclays’ head of international corporates since 2018. He has close to 30 years of corporate and investment banking experience, including around 18 years with Barclays after joining in 2004. Previously, he also worked for Citibank, Credit Lyonnais and ANZ.

«Our corporate banking business is in a robust position in Asia Pacific and Middle East, with a clear strategic direction,» said Bowkley. «[Gumaste] has a strong track record of building businesses and strengthening client relationships, and his appointment represents a new chapter for the firm as we continue to expand our franchise in the region.»
