The international real estate investment manager has created a new role based in Bangkok to develop the firm's capabilities in the logistics sector in the Asia Pacific region.

Savills Investment Management (Savills IM) has appointed Nicholas Kinsey to the new role of head of logistics, Asia Pacific (APAC), according to an announcement on Wednesday.

Kinsey has 18 years of experience in logistics and has been involved in real estate deals in Australia, the U.S. and 16 Asian nations. He joins the firm from DHL Supply Chain, where he was sub-regional head, APAC. His previous roles include positions with CEVA Logistics and Goodman Group.

Growth Potential

Michael Flynn, global co-head client capital at Savills IM, said the firm is looking to build a «substantial» franchise in the region, noting the growth of the Asia Pacific logistics real estate market over the past decade, with 75 percent coming from only four markets in the region.

«Therefore, we believe there is huge opportunity and growth to come in those and other markets, driven by growing e-commerce penetration, the demands of supply chain technology and investor appetite for the sector,» Flynn said.

Savills IM is one of the leading investors in the logistics sector in Europe, with $5 billion of assets under management (AUM) out of a total global AUM of $28.9 billion.
