Taiwan’s China Development Financial hires a former UBS executive to become its chief digital officer.

Ketan Samani joins the firm also as its head of fintech and new financial services department, according to China Development Financial’s (CDF) website.

Samani will spearhead efforts for strategic planning in fintech and digital innovation alongside data analytics-related developments.

Samani has 25 years of experience, leading multiple digital transformations, online banking and e-business initiatives across major financial institutions such as UBS, DBS, Standard Chartered, Barclays and HSBC. At UBS, he was last the Asia chief digital officer of the wealth management arm before leaving in August 2018.

Taipei-headquartered CDF is made up of four major operating subsidiaries: China Life, KGI Bank, KGI Securities, and CDIB Capital Group.

In the second quarter of 2020, the Taiwan-listed financial firm generated around NTD52.5 billion ($1.8 billion) in net revenue, 10 percent year-on-year decrease.
