After more than four years leading the financial services Asean practice of EY, Liew Nam Soon is being tasked with a wider leadership role, finews.asia has learned.

Liew Nam Soon (pictured above) will lead EY's markets segment for Asean, effective immediately, the consulting firm said on Wednesday. The move is an expansion of his current role as head of EY's financial services practice, which he has held for the past four years.

The Singaporean is a veteran consultant in Asia, save for a two-year stint as transformation chief with finance firm Prudential's Asian arm. In the EY markets role, he will focus on business performance and client service across key industries like including telecommunications, media, technology, financial services, healthcare, logistics, infrastructure and resources.

His priorities? Helping clients manage disruption due to industry convergence and integration, as well as better leverage the opportunities resulting to achieve sustainable growth.

Nam Soon has 24 years of consulting and industry experience in the retail, private and investment banking, asset management, corporate banking, life insurance and private equity industries. Before EY, he was a partner with PwC, and started his career with Andersen Consulting.

He holds an MBA from Imperial College in London as well as an undergraduate degree in engineering from Nanyang Technological University in Singapore.
