Citi Appoints Research Veteran in Hong Kong
New York-headquartered Citi has announced the appointment of a Hong Kong-based research head to cover multiple markets in Hong Kong.
Citi has appointed Erica Poon Werkun as head of research for Japan, Asia North & Australia (JANA) and Asia South, according to an internal memo, reporting to global head of research Lucy Baldwin. Based in Hong Kong, she will lead the development and execution of our client, product and business strategies for JANA and Asia South, while working with business partners.
Werkun joined Citi last year in June as JANA and Asia South deputy head of research and became the interim head of research for JANA and Asia South in September. She is also a board member of Citigroup Global Markets Asia Limited and Citigroup Global Markets Hong Kong Holdings Limited, a member of the Global Research ExComm and chairs the JANA & Asia South Research Executive Committee and the Pan-Asia Research Operating Committee.
Previously, she was managing director and head of APAC research at Credit Suisse from 2019 to 2024 after 15 years at UBS in roles including head of research in China and head of Asian consumer & internet research. Prior to that, she also worked at Goldman Sachs, CSFB and Cowen.
