UBS Nabs Former HSBC Investment Strategist in Singapore
The wealth management arm of UBS has added a 20-year veteran and former investment strategist from HSBC in Singapore, finews.asia has learned.
UBS has hired James Cheo to its chief investment office APAC team covering Southern Asia and Australia, according to an internal memo seen by finews.asia, effective March 30. In the role, he is tasked with providing investment content and client coverage across Southeast Asia, Australia and India.
Cheo has more than 20 years of experience in multi‑asset strategy, macroeconomic research and thematic investing, most recently serving as regional chief investment officer for Southeast Asia and India at HSBC Global Private Banking and Wealth. Previously, he also spent five years with the Monetary Authority of Singapore as a senior economist.
A spokesperson for the bank confirmed the new hire.
