Citi Commercial Bank Names Tech Head in India

The commercial banking arm of Citi has appointed a head of digital and technology in India.

Citi India has appointed Srini Kannan as head of digital, technology, communication, business & professional services and industrials for commercial banking, according to a statement, effective early December.

Kannan has extensive dealmaking experience across equity, debt, M&A, financing, risk management and payments, most recently serving as the head of innovation economy and venture capital coverage in India at J.P. Morgan. Prior to that, he helped build the US rival’s mid-corporate business in South India. He rejoins after beginning his career with Citi in 2002 as part of the corporate banking team.

«Srini is an excellent addition to our [Citi Commercial Bank] franchise in India, which is among the largest across Citi globally and poised to expand in the coming years. The business is deeply embedded in the country’s vibrant startup community and banks almost half of India’s unicorns,» said K Balasubramanian, CEO, Citi India, and banking head, Indian subcontinent.
