Former UBS and Credit Suisse Veteran Joins Private Bank

He spent over two decades advising UBS and Credit Suisse’s top leadership on communications and, most recently, worked for a global consulting firm. Now, the seasoned financial communications expert is set to lead global communications at the Swiss investment house Vontobel.

Zurich-based Vontobel appointed Dominique Gerster as Head of Corporate Communications, effective early November 2025, the firm announced on Thursday.

With over 25 years of professional experience in strategic, corporate, and financial communications, Gerster is a recognized expert in the industry, having held various leadership roles at UBS and Credit Suisse between 2005 and 2024, where he also advised top management.

Global Communications Strategy

In his new role, Gerster will be responsible for Vontobel’s global communications strategy, both internally and externally. He will report to David Ryan, Head of CEO Office and Strategy, Communications & Branding, and succeeds Isabel Reck, who has held the position since January 2024. She will continue to support the Corporate Communications team in a senior role, a Vontobel spokesperson told finews.asia upon request.

Gerster began his professional career as a freelance journalist (1998-2002). He then worked as a public relations consultant at Zurich-based Wirz Group (2002-2005).

«Unique Opportunity»

Most recently, he served as a partner at consulting firm IRF, where he advised national and international clients as well as individuals on strategic issues in corporate and crisis communication.

«After an exciting year in external communications consulting, I decided to seize this unique opportunity and return to a leadership role in communications at a larger company,» Gerster told finews.asia.

He holds a Master’s degree in Law from the Universities of Zurich and Siena (2002) and completed a part-time Executive MBA at the University of St. Gallen.
