UBS Expands Wealth Front Office in Hong Kong

Zurich-based UBS has expanded its wealth management business with a handful of appointments covering the Southeast Asia and Greater China markets, finews.asia has learned.

UBS Global Wealth Management (GWM) has appointed Neil Yiu as market team head for South East Asia Hong Kong within the Hong Kong domestic and South East Asia Hong Kong sector, effective September 1, according to an internal memo seen by finews.asia. In the role, he reports to Adeline Chien, head wealth management Hong Kong Domestic and South East Asia Hong Kong.

Yiu was part of the direct investment and GWM corporate finance group before transitioning into the Hong Kong domestic market team head role earlier this year.

The bank also named Pierre Widmer as head of GWM A&S North Asia, effective September 1. He is currently market team head for South East Asia Hong Kong.

Greater China Coverage

For the Greater China markets, Simon Chang rejoins the bank as market team head in Hong Kong for the Taiwan international business, reporting to Damien Hsiao, head Taiwan international. Chang has two decades of financial experience, most recently at J.P. Morgan Private Bank. From 2015 to 2018, he was a client advisor at UBS Taipei and also previously held various other roles as a relationship manager at Standard Chartered, Credit Suisse, and ABN AMRO.

Also joining from J.P. Morgan is Sherwin Wong who has been named market team head for private clients Hong Kong, reporting to Jamee Wong, head private client Greater China. Wong is also a former UBS executive, having started his career with the Swiss firm’s investment bank in 2007.

A spokesperson for the bank confirmed the appointments.
