Ex-Millennium Executive Joins Citi's Prime Finance Unit
A former executive from hedge fund Millennium has joined Citi as a regional head of prime finance in Hong Kong.
Citi has appointed Jig Patel as head of prime finance for Japan, Asia North, Australia (JANA) and Asia South, according to an announcement. Based in Hong Kong, he reports to JANA and Asia South head of equity trading Robert Stewart alongside global heads of prime services Sebastien Mailleux and Tim Tomalin-Reeves.
Patel will be responsible for the ongoing development of the prime finance offering and the strategic growth of the platform. He will also have responsibility for Prime Product, Stock Borrow and Lending, Synthetic Prime Brokerage, Funding Trading, and In Business Risk, as well as oversight of the client executive function.
Industry Veteran
Patel has extensive experience in the industry, most recently working at hedge fund Millennium. Prior to that, he spent nearly 30 years at Goldman Sachs building out its Asia prime business.
The latest hire is part of broader efforts by Citi's markets division to grow its team in Asia by 5-10 percent with a focus on its rates and prime businesses.
