Citi Unveils Handful of Australasia Markets Appointments

The research and markets businesses of Citi have announced several key appointments for Australia and New Zealand.

Citi has appointed Paul Buys as managing director, head of research for Australia and New Zealand, according to a statement, as well as member of the Australian and New Zealand executive committee.

He has 25 years of experience in financial markets, most recently at Canaccord Genuity where he is currently head of research. Previously, he was deputy head of APAC securities research for Credit Suisse.

Expanded Markets Business

In addition, Citi also appointed Christian Ford as director, equity high touch execution. He has over 20 years of high touch sales trading experience, most recently as a foundation member of Jefferies Australia where he was a managing director and head of sales trading.

Andrew Bruce has been named as director, head of low touch execution. He has more than two decades of experience in financial services, most recently at J.P. Morgan’s globe equities team as an executive director.

Nicolas Lebon, previously a global markets sales director from Credit Agricole CIB, joined as director, corporate solutions group.

Dan Smith has been appointed to an expanded role to cover head of Australia, prime finance in the equities business. He has 28 years of experience across prime brokerage and exchange-traded derivative sales in New York, Chicago and London, including eight years at Citi in prime services.
