Credit Suisse has hired a former China investment banker who is making a career shift to private banking, finews.asia has learned.

Matt Jin joins Credit Suisse as an executive director and relationship manager for the China market, according to an internal note seen by finews.asia. Based in Hong Kong, Jin reports to China market team leader Shin-Yi Jeng.

Jin has over 20 years of investment banking experience, most recently at CMBC Intl Holdings where he led the investment and financing team for five years. Prior to that, he worked at Mirae Asset Securities for over 10 years as team head of Greater China investment banking coverage.

Career Shift

In his new role, Jin is making a shift from his 20-year investment banking career to private banking. According to the note, the transition will help him to continue servicing his clients in their business succession and wealth planning needs.

A spokesperson for the bank confirmed the contents of the memo.

Credit Suisse has seen talent flow in and out of the bank in the midst of an ongoing integration with UBS. According to the latter's chairman Colm Kelleher, it will take up to four years to complete the integration of the two Swiss lenders.
