Singaporean insurer Great Eastern has announced the appointment of a new chairman.

Great Eastern appoints Soon Tit Koon as chairman, according to a statement, effective April 22. Soon succeeds Koh Beng Seng who will step down as chairman of the board at the conclusion of the insurer’s 24th annual general meeting on April 21.

Soon has over 30 years of experience in business, management, banking and finance, having joined Great Eastern’s board on 1 January 2016. He held senior positions at parent OCBC, including chief financial officer and head of group investments. Previously, he also worked at agribusiness group Wilmar and Citi.
