Amsterdam-headquartered ING has hired an ex-Westpac banker to join as its new country manager for Singapore.

Anand Sachdev has been appointed as the branch manager for ING Singapore, according to a statement, effective June 21. He succeeds Erwin Maspolim and reports to APAC head of wholesale banking Anju Abrol.

25-year veteran Maspolim will remain with the bank and take on a new role as head of Southeast Asia, representative offices, where he will be responsible for covering Indonesia and Vietnam. Maspolim will continue to report to Abrol.

Sachdev was most recently the Singapore chief executive and Asia chief operating officer for Westpac, where he worked at since 2005. Previously, he held various senior roles across Asia, Australia and the Pacific Islands before relocating to Singapore in 2013.
