Zurich-headquartered insurer Swiss Re has appointed a new country president and chief executive for reinsurance in China.

Ivan Gonzalez has been named CEO reinsurance China and country president at Swiss Re, according to a statement, subject to regulatory approval. 

Gonzalez is a 21-year Swiss Re veteran, joining the firm in 2001 as a financial analyst. He was most recently CEO for Swiss Re Corporate Solutions in North America, a role he held since 2016.

He will relocate from New York to Beijing in the new role.

Katie McGrath

Succeeding Gonzalez as new regional CEO for Swiss Re Corporate Solutions in North America is Katie McGrath.

McGrath has more than 25 years of experience in commercial insurance and joined Swiss Re Corporate Solutions in 2019, overseeing its accident and health portfolio in North America. Previously, she also worked in several senior roles at AIG in New York.
