ING has hired a former Westpac banker to join as its new head of real estate finance in Australia.
Darren Beatty joins ING as head of real estate finance Australia, according to a statement, reporting to interim head of wholesale banking Australia Margreet Rog-Stokkink and head of real estate finance APAC Robert Scholten.
Beatty succeeds Wouter Mijnen who will return to ING’s head office in Amsterdam following a five-year stint in Australia.
Beatty has more than 20 years of banking experience, most recently with Westpac where he spent eight years, last as a senior director for institutional real estate. Previously, he also worked for Commonwealth Bank of Australia in its institutional banking and markets team.
«Commercial real estate is a priority growth sector for us in Australia,» said Scholten. «[Beatty’s] depth and breadth of international and domestic experience will no doubt be an asset to the further growth of our business in Australia, the broader APAC region and beyond.»
