He brings more than 15 years of industry experience in the asset management and private banking industries.

Investment manager Fidelity has appointed Johann Santer as APAC ex-Japan regional lead for private banking and wealth, and will lead an expanded team of senior distribution experts across Hong Kong and Singapore, the firm announced on Monday in a statement.

Santer joined Fidelity in 2018 as head of private banking business Asia ex-Japan. He was previously head of investment specialists for funds in Hong Kong at Julius Baer, and held various roles at asset manager Superfund.

He will be responsible for driving the growth and regional alignment of the firm's wealth proposition for clients across private bank and retail channels and will lead its Strategic Client program, and will continue to report to Rajeev Mittal, Asia CEO.

Important Region

The private banking business has grown significantly as a proportion of Fidelity’s overall business in Asia Pacific, the firm said.

«Favourable demographic trends, and positive economic outlook in the region for the medium to long-term highlight the need for a strong wealth proposition for clients,» Santer said.
