Hong Kong-licensed digital asset platform OSL made six new hires globally across its home market and the U.K.

OSL has expanded its global business with a series of hires for its software-as-a-service (SaaS) unit alongside business development, operations and technology.

Hong Kong Hires

In Hong Kong, Colm Furlong joins as head of SaaS after joining from trading tech firm Fidessa where he spent 13 years including as its Asia head of product marketing and strategy and head of global program trading strategy. Previously, he was head of equities business solutions at the former SunGard, which was acquired by FIS in 2015.

The firm also named Joe Zhou as a director of business development following his most recent role as senior vice president of global client development at Hong Kong Stock Exchange and Clearing (HKEX) where he focused on brokers, asset managers, asset owners and issuers. Zhou has over 17 years of experience across CSOP Asset Management, the Securities and Futures Commission, BlackRock and Merrill Lynch.

U.K. Hires

And in the U.K., OSL hired Arion Ho as head of exchange operations; James Cunningham as principal engineer; George Carr as director of infrastructure and operations; and Fergus MacDermot as director of service reliability. 

Ho is also an ex-HKEX senior vice president where he led nighttime exchange operations including trading risk, settlement, market surveillance and other activities. Previously, he led Shanghai and Wuxi operations with UBS’ China investment bank and was Hong Kong head of fixed income operations at Standard Chartered. 

Cunningham joins from crypto future exchange Coinflex where he was its chief operating officer and chief technology officer. He has 20 years of experience across digital assets, hedge funds, and investment banking, specializing in high-frequency equity trading and derivatives and previously worked with Coinfloor, IV Capital, UBS and MUFG.

Carr has 20 years of financial experience, having previously worked with Morgan Stanley, Deutsche Bank and Bloomberg. He was most recently with AIX where he designed and managed the company’s trading platform and cloud infrastructure.

MacDermot was most recently with Hong Kong-licensed digital lender Mox Bank where he was its head of platform foundation. He has 15 years of experience including technical roles with HSBC, Monitise and Energy Saving Trust.
