Seven months after an exit, Citi Private Bank’s South Asia head has reemerged at HSBC Private Banking.

Jyrki Rauhio joins HSBC Private Banking as its regional head of credit advisory, according to a statement, effective as of November 2 this year.

Rauhio replaces Desiree Lam who will take a new role working directly with regional private banking head Siew Meng Tan to drive the Asia wealth strategy. Rauhio reports to Tan and Daniel Menthe, the unit’s global head of credit advisory.

Financing Boost

Rauhio is a Citi veteran where he spent 25 years including 12 in Hong Kong and Singapore. He has held a diverse range of senior roles for Citi Private Bank in the last decade including as its London-based global COO; its APAC head of investment finance and banking; and, most recently, its South Asia head.

According to Tan, HSBC Private Banking aims to grow its loan book in line with client asset growth over the next three to five years as part of its Asia wealth strategy.

«We also expect to offer more bespoke lending solutions to meet the needs of the [ultra-high net worth] segment and sophisticated institutional family offices,» she added. «We will continue to invest to build our expertise to support this growth sustainably and safely.»
