Chicago-headquartered law firm Baker & McKenzie names a successor to Tokyo-based Gavin Raftery for the practice.

Singapore-based Emmanuel Hadjidakis will become the Asia Pacific chair of the banking and finance practice, according to a statement.

Also within the law firm’s transactional practice groups, Kula Lumpur-based Brian Chia takes over from Tokyo-based Hideo Norikoshi as APAC chair of the mergers and acquisitions practice.

Asia Reshuffle

The appointments were part of broader personnel changes across practices including seven new «Asia Pacific leaders», four of whom were women – a point of emphasis highlighted by regional chairwoman Ai Ai Wong.

«As a firm that values diversity in the workplace, these appointments mark a step forward towards achieving our firm's global aspirational targets of having 40% women at the partnership and leadership level,» Wong said.
