Beazley has appointed its first dedicated Singapore-based cyber and technology underwriter and strengthened its international financial lines (IFL) team in Asia Pacific.

The U.K.-based firm is growing its Asia Pacific footprint with two new appointments at its Singapore hub – Teck Siong Ng, who joins its cyber and technology team, and Razif Abdullah, who has been promoted to assistant underwriter in its international financial lines (IFL) team, according to two separate announcements from the firm.

Ng joined Beazley in 2015 as a specialty lines underwriter and managed business development across the firm's specialty lines in the region. Prior to joining Beazley, he spent 10 years in underwriting roles, most recently at Asia Capital Re, where he was a  business development team leader for Southeast Asia and India within its casualty and financial lines facultative team.

Abdullah joined Beazley after graduation in 2017. His new responsibilities include underwriting across a range of IFL products including directors and officers and professional indemnity insurance, and engaging brokers in Singapore through Beazley’s online trading platform launched in Asia Pacific earlier this year.

Growing Capabilities

Beazley said Abdullah will support its efforts to roll out localized services to reinsurance intermediaries in Malaysia and Indonesia, following the recent authorization of Beazley Labuan, a new service company that extends its distribution capabilities in the Malaysian market.

In addition, Beazley recently streamlined its information and security (Infosec) policy form for cyber clients in Asia Pacific, which integrates first-party covers into the main policy form rather than being added by endorsement, making cover clearer to understand for brokers and clients.

«Businesses are playing catch-up with cyber criminals and they need to have the most comprehensive cover in place to protect their businesses. Our enhanced Infosec policy provides industry-leading coverages for emerging data security and privacy exposures facing companies today,» Alessandro Lezzi, Beazley’s head of international cyber and tech, said.
