The fund manager is strengthening its Australian distribution team with the appointment of a director with 15 years’ institutional sales and relationship management experience.

Aberdeen Standard Investments (ASI) has appointed Vishal Sharma as institutional director for Australia and New Zealand, the firm announced in a statement on Wednesday.

Based in Sydney, Sharma will help the firm establish and grow relationships with institutional investors, including superannuation funds and insurance companies, ASI said. He reports jointly to Andrew Hendry, head of distribution, Asia Pacific, and Brett Jollie, managing director, Australia.

Sharma joins ASI from investment consultant bfinance, where he supported institutional investors with investment implementation. He was previously based in London, where he held institutional business development and consultant relations roles at M&G Investments, Schroders, and Legal & General Investment Management.
