Securely Navigate the World of Fund Data
The asset management industry does not lack for challenges. Falling margins, increasing cost pressures and stricter compliance requirements make the efficiency gains generated by smart technology all the more important.
As one of the leading fund platforms, we want to make sure that our services are always at the cutting edge of the industry. This is why we have been working for several years to expand our basic service portfolio. The objective has always been to support our clients throughout the entire fund distribution value chain. To this end, we also enter into partnerships with other service providers whenever feasible.
The UBS Fund Compass fund selection and analysis tool is at the heart of our services. To account for stricter regulatory requirements, for example, the number of data fields per fund unit class were increased substantially, which makes it possible for our distribution partners to analyze and select funds even more precisely.
At the Interface Between Client Needs and Regulatory Requirements
Solutions to enhance efficiency are needed to counter the fiercer competition and the resulting increase in cost pressure. The technological link between investment consulting and the compliance world is a good example of this. There is a huge demand for the most efficient comparison possible of product characteristics and the client profile. A module compatible with the UBS Fund Compass (Product Expert) performs this comparison by carrying out regulatory and product-specific checks for domestic and cross-border consultations.
In practice, questions crop up such as «May a client advisor domiciled in Singapore advertise Fund XYZ by sending e-mails to his clients who live in Hong Kong?». The advisor enters the relevant data into the Product Expert user interface and a few seconds later he receives a clear answer on a unit class/ISIN level based on the combination of client information, rules and data entered.
Data – an Essential Sector Commodity
High-quality, comprehensive fund data is of central importance. UBS Fondcenter bundles the products offered by different providers and works together with research companies such as Morningstar. In addition to the quality and range of the data, its standardization also plays an important role.
UBS Fondcenter is one of the founders of the «openfunds» initiative, a uniform standard that defines the static fund data fields. Companies participating in this standard receive and send high-quality data, which allows them to better automate the process and simplify data access. Distribution partners and their clients benefit from a higher level of transparency and reliability, as they can assess and compare investment funds much more easily.
UBS Fondcenter is continuously expanding its service offering. The platform will soon offer independent fund analyses that meet the needs of the clients. Further information about market developments such as asset flows and product trends will also be made available in the future.
We can help you keep your finger on the pulse of the fund industry. We would also be happy to help you find solutions that meet your challenges.
