The National Australia Bank has announced the appointment of a new group chief executive officer.

National Australia Bank's (NAB) board of directors have appointed Andrew Irvine as group CEO and managing director, according to a statement. On April 2, he succeeds Ross McEwan CBE who will retire from executive roles. 

Irvine has been holding the role of group executive business and private banking since 2020 and a successor will be selected in due course. Prior to joining NAB, he was working at the Bank of Montreal for over 12 years, last as its head of Canadian business banking. Previously, he also worked at McKinsey & Company, Lycos Europe and Credit Agricole.
