Japan’s Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation has announced the hire of two investment bankers, formerly from fallen Swiss lender Credit Suisse.

SMBC appoints Junwei Wu as head of structured credit APAC and Sukrit Dewan as head of global sponsor coverage APAC, according to a statement. Wu is based in Singapore while Dewan is based in Hong Kong and the two report to Fabien Banaletti and Taku Kimura, co-heads of the region’s specialized products business. 

Wu has over 18 years of experience across private credit, corporate finance and M&A, most recently as head of structuring for Southeast Asia and India at Credit Suisse. Ex-colleague Dewan has 17 years of banking experience across Europe, US and APAC. In addition to Credit Suisse, he also previously worked at Mizuho Bank and Société Générale.
