MUFG-owned asset manager First Sentier Investors has announced the appointment of a new chief operating officer.

First Sentier Investors appoints Amanda Gazal as chief operating officer, according to a statement. She will be based in Sydney and is expected to join the firm in February 2024.

Gazal has more than 20 years of asset management and investment banking experience, most recently as COO at Australian asset manager Perpetual Limited. Previously she also worked at DWS, Deutsche Bank and Credit Suisse.

Interim Role

Gazal will take over from Gary Cotton who has been interim COO, in addition to his responsibilities as regional managing director of EMEA.

First Sentier is a Sydney-headquartered asset manager that was acquired by the trust arm of Japan’s Mitsubishi UFJ Financial Group (MUFG) in 2019. As of 30 September 2023, it had $137.8 billion in assets under management.
