MSCI announces a former employee to become the global head of research.

Ashley Lester, a former executive of Schroders' Systematic Investments, has moved back to MSCI, after leaving the company for eight years. Lester has just been appointed as MSCI’s global head of research and a member of MSCI’s executive committee.

In his new role, he will be based in London and report to Baer Pettit, president of MSCI, according to an announcement on Thursday. MSCI is a provider of critical decision support tools and services for the global investment community.

Across the Product Lines

Lester will be responsible for developing MSCI’s research across the product lines and client segments of asset managers, asset owners, banks, corporates, hedge funds, insurance companies, and wealth managers.

Between 2013 and 2015, he served as MSCI’s head of fixed-income and multi-asset class research. Prior to this, he was the managing director and head of market risk analytics at Morgan Stanley.

Assistant Professor of Economics

Lester also spent several years as an assistant professor of economics at Columbia Business School and Brown University. He also worked as a graduate economist at the Reserve Bank of Australia.
