The former Goldman Sachs banker Roger Ng has received approval to  to delay the start of his 10- years prison sentence.

US District Judge Margo Brodie has approved Roger Ng's request to postpone the start of his 10-years prison until 7 August 2023 from previously 4 May 2023. Ng request has been granted without explanation, as reported by newswire «Bloomberg».

Previously, Ng, represented by his lawyer Marc Agnifilo asked the US court to allow the former Goldman Sachs banker to delay going to prison for around three months.

Free on House Arrest

The request was submitted on 28 April, as Ng needs to allow his wife and daughter to come from Malaysia and spend two months with them before he surrenders. Ng is said to have not seen his 10-years old daughter since he was arrested in Malaysia in 2018.

Ng has been free on house arrest and electronic monitoring following his $20 million bail in May 2019 and has never violated the conditions of his release. Agnifilo said prosecutors objected to the delay, but  John Marzulli, a spokesperson for Brooklyn US Attorney Breon Peace, declined to comment on Ng’s request.
