Chicago-based Northern Trust has announced the appointment of a regional head of digital asset innovation, just months after forming a crypto unit.
Alvin Chia joins Northern Trust as its head of digital assets innovation for Asia Pacific, according to a statement. Based in Singapore, he reports to global head of digital assets and financial markets Justin Chapman.
In his new role, Chia will be responsible for delivering solutions aligned with Northern Trust’s digital asset strategy across the region while collaborating closely with industry bodies, fintechs, regulators and government entities to «positively influence market change».
Chia was most recently working at Bain and Company as an expert senior manager of innovation. Previously, he was also the vice president of innovation at DBS.
Digital Asset Group
In June this year, Northern Trust announced the formation of its digital assets and financial markets group in order to unify the firm’s digital and traditional market functions across its asset servicing business.
«We continue to see the pace of innovation continuing across the funds administration and custody sector, with the APAC region experiencing a transformational period of change in light of new technologies,» said Chapman.
