London-headquartered law firm Linklaters has appointed a new regional managing partner in Asia.

William Liu has been named regional managing partner in Asia, according to a statement, for a four-year period from June 1 this year onwards. Liu succeeds Nathalie Hobbs who has completed her term in the role and will work closely with him during a handover period.

Liu joined Linklaters in 1998 as a trainee in Hong Kong and was admitted as a partner in 2008. Since 2018, he served as head of China and Asia head of capital markets while sitting on the Asia execute committee.

Under Liu’s leadership, Linklaters has worked on some high-profile transactions in the region including a $6 billion sovereign bond offering by the Chinese government or Asia’s first blue bonds offering by Bank of China.
